We're a little late on this one (probably because Ghana didn't win) but Sierra Leone is the official winner of the 2019 Jollof Rice Competition held annually in Washington D.C. Representing Sierra Leone was chef Carol Mabinty Khanu who beat out 4th place Ghana, 3rd place Nigeria, and 2nd place Liberia. This year’s competition was held by Afropolitan Insights and was attended by hundreds of people. While we remain staunch 'Ghanaian joloff is the best joloff' believers, we love seeing West African food getting the love it deserves. Congrats Sierra Leone on your victory!
