British-Ghanaian designer Ozwald Boateng debuted his latest collection at a special fashion show last Sunday at the Apollo theatre in Harlem. Boateng is known for his bespoke, tailored suits and dressing celebrities like Mick Jagger, Samuel L. Jackson and Will Smith. His suits have also been seen in Sex & The City, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Black Panther. His latest collection was inspired by his Ghanaian heritage, employing the bright, swirl-patterned Kente cloth associated with his parents’ country of birth. “It looks like a beautiful, interesting, colored cloth,” he said, “but it has a huge history that sits behind it.” Check out some pics from the show below.
