ARISE Fashion Week recently took place in Lagos after a six-year hiatus. ARISE is one of the biggest fashion events in Africa, featuring some of the hottest, newest, and best West African designers and we are thrilled it's back! As part of their coverage of ARISE, the New York Times Style Magazine profiled Nigerian designer Kenneth Ize. Ize uses hand-woven Yoruba aso oke fabrics and patterned textiles traditionally reserved for special occasions. Ize's fans include Beyonce, Naomi Campbell, and Donald Glover. His mission is to revive, interpret, and give "new context to artisan techniques that have given meaning to West African identity." Read more about him here.
